A gothic cathedral, the spiritual symbol of the Czech state, founded in the year 1344 by Jan Lucembursky (John of Luxembourg) and his sons Karel (Charles) and Jan Jindrich (John Henry) in the place of the original romanesque rotunda. Decorated by precious works of art it encloses St. Wenceslas' Chapel and the Crypt with tombs of Bohemian kings. The coronation jewels are deposited here, too. |

Prague is the capital of the Czech Republic. It is a city with a long tradition, nice atmosphere, and mild weather (at mid of July the temperature in Prague typically ranges between 20 to 30 degrees Celsius during the day). Prague is relatively safe city as any other major European city. The Czech Republic is a part of the EU but it still uses its own currency: the Czech crown. Major credit cards are widely accepted, ATM's are abundant. You can read more in Lonely Planet Guide. |
